I am going with a foam wing and stab on this one, just like my original. But the AMA plans I just received has all the rib layouts if you want to go that way. The TT4 is a bit bigger than the TT3 and is the one I saw Ron fly in New Orleans in the eighties. That plane looked so good in the air I just had to build one. I don't know if it was the plane or me but my contest scores improved drastically. It was just so easy to fly well with it and other guys took notice. A masters class flyer from Lafayette bought one of Ron's TT4s and did well with it and that's when some guys made up the glass/foam kit.

Thanks Joe, I'm wanting to to the early original TT. I have the plans and the tail group from last TT. Kind of want to do it just like the one I had back in "77" powered with a Kraft .61. It was my first .60 sized pattern ship. Might do TT4 but not until after the TT3 is done and has flown!

It's hard to argue that point but my ops was turning 14.5k with an MK 11.5 X 8 on the ground. Most other guys were turning the same with 11 X 7s. And most importantly, it did that for 3 seasons!!! The only thing I needed to get it back to new shape before I retired it back then was a new con-rod. And so with a flight or two since with a new con-rod and bearings, it sits waiting...

Tiger Tail Plans and Build Instructions
Hello All,
I just ordered a Tiger Tail Short kit from Eureka Aircraft and was curious if anyone has a PDF copy of build instructions from the MAN article in the 70's?

Ron Chidgey Honored at 2017 Nats
Hello All-
Seems appropriate to add here that Ron was in attendance at the 2017 Pattern Nats in Blytheville, AR last month. At the banquet, Nats organizers Mike Harrison and Al Glenn presented an outstanding scale desk model of Ron's Tiger Tail (commissioned by Mark Hunt) in honor of Ron's many contributions to precision aerobatics over the decades. We were very honored to have Ron and his family in attendance throughout the event. Photos by Jay Gerber, Nats photographer.

I just came into an original Tiger Tail kit a couple weeks ago. It appears to be complete, it was unopened when I brought it home. It may have an instruction book in it that I can copy if one is needed. I have a IV kit under way and a II and III in overhaul condition in the shop.

I saw Ron at the Perry, GA swap meet a few years ago selling kits of the TT. Maybe he will be there next spring.
I like that paint scheme on the desk top model. My TT is in prime right now. I may steal it.

the above link connects to the plans for most of the versions of the Tiger Tail. What I find interesting is the Tar Baby was designed before the Tiger Tail 4S. I saw Ron fly the Tar Baby at the ‘85 Nats, powered with an OS 120 4-stroke (pre-surpass). Flew very well. I think either model would fly very with a YS 91AC or similar.

Seeing this late, I saw Ron fly the TAR Baby in, I think, Cullman AL when pattern was just transitioning to 4-stroke and turnaround. I got a set of plans and still have them, I may build one just for fun. I have several other Tiger Tail variants and I think there is a Typhoon around here somewhere.

Just now starting to build an original TT from Southern R/C plans that I downloaded from Outerzone. I've been on a nostalgia kick lately.....I guess because I'm getting old. Flew pattern a lot back in the eighties. It feels strange to work with parts that seem so small now compared to the larger airplanes that I am accustomed to. I feel like I am building a half A model!

I have a Tiger Tail I built several years ago. I saw one for sale at a swap meet many years ago and thought it was one of the best looking planes I ever saw so eventually I built one. Mine is painted and has an HB .61 in it. Funny thing, when I do a roll with it, there is NO down elevator required or you'll mess up the roll.

My Tiger Tail. I built this model mostly because it is designed by Ron Chidgey. I met him at several World- and European Championships.
The model turned out very light, 2500g. It is not yet tesflown. The renovated Webra 61 Speed is testrun and shows great potential with a new pistonring and new bearings.
