just saw this. I used national balsa, really nice work and I had the kit in less than a week. I had 1 small issue, which was fixed by them quickly.i will use them again.. the pictures are on kirbys...

the decathlon was going to get the monocote treatment, but after covering the cub in solartex,change in plans. the decathlon is getting solartex/paint finish. i have never done such a wrinkle free...

i can see it getting dirty, even tho the power will be electric. i will be giving it 2 coats of nelson water poly. i know some knock the paint, but i reallylike it.

man, they look good. i wish i had that kind time. as to the struts, the balsa usa are solid shaped, bass. i slotted the ends and made the fittings as per the hostetler plans.

finally back on.[hard drive let go]. for struts, i used a set of balsa usa struts for their 1/3 super cub. they are preshapped bass and just needed to be cut to size and slotted for the brass inserts

sure looks similar. the 6-32 inserts are put in the bottom of w13 &14. when the wings slip on, a screw goes thru the wing spar into the insert

the wing mount would be easy to fix, but ripping the aileron open to get to the horn mount would be a royal pain.it will stay as is.
