Hi Guys.
I'm building another N'Star and am contemplating going electric. I'm hoping for at least the same performance as the glow power, more would be much better lol.
I've done my head in reading up on motors, KV's rpms etc...very confusing for a non electric person. I look up an e-motor to rplace a .46 and they all turn big 14-15" props.
I would like to have an e-motor to replace a .46-.50 glow, and as you know the N'Star is limited to a 10" prop (I'm building mine stock) I have a couple of Glacier 5S 4000, 45C packs (new) and a Turnigy Plush 100A esc.(new) I'm not adverse to getting different batteries if necessary for a decent flight time 8-10 mins @ varying throttle settings.
I will be using a separate Life RX pack.
Can someone head me in the right direction so my head doesn't explode from all the numbers?
Thanks, Guys.
Cheers,
Dave.

Northstar mods
I used a turinigy 5055 700 kv with a 3 blade prop. You can either raise the pod or do what I had to do put a cut out for the prop. Also i put the servos in the wing and the rudder in the pod.I love the plane takes off into nearly vertical on a 6 cell 2650 battery

I've built 2 N'Stars before this one. Both had various mods and flew great, it was the piloting that left a little to be desired..lol
My main concern is the e-power.
I looked up a replacement for a .46 glow, but it swings a 14-15" prop.
How do you figure out what motor to use to swing a 10" prop at high rpms.
All very confusing...to me at least.

You have look at the kv ihe higher the kv the more rpm with a smaller prop.I would guess you would need somewhere in the 1000 kv range for a 10 inch prop.My plane weight is around 8 lbs with a turinigy 5055 700kv it gps rite at 100 mph level. The motor i have and the way it is proped i pull 50 amp static and between 430 to 470 watts and half throttle around 270 and 300 watts. I get about 6 min. flight time at mixed throttle settings

Electronic plans
Hello good people,
I don’t suppose anyone has electrocinc plans- pdf etc? A friend has the ability to cut them but paper plans not much use!
Also I’m thinking of 400kv on 8s 3 or 4 blade as I have 4s batteries.
Many thanks

Northstar for Sale
I thought that I would pop in here to make an offer, seeing as how this is a Northstar thread. I happen to have a NIB NorthStar that I don't think that I am ever going to get to. I thought it would put it up for sale here and in the "Balsa USA Brotherhood" thread
https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/new...e=1&p=12632975 in case anyone is interested.
I am asking for $160, shipped. If you'd like to take me up on this, PM me here.
