Default RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

question on using a pump on a FA-82a. When flying 3D with a Fliton Inspire 60 it is recommended to fly with the tank at CG. I am a little apprehensive about flying with muffler pressure only. Any recommendations on this and the type of pump to use? I read this article http://saito-engines.info/body_pumps.html and it does mention the Perry VP-20, but only when used behind the firewall.

thanks, volkert

Cline or Iron Bay regulator would be your best bet.

They last better with a fuel with a little castor oil. Cool Power is all synthetic oil.
Cool Power has a 4-stroke blend, 15% nitro, 17% oil, of which 50% is synthetic and 50% is castor. Good stuff. 15% nitro is plenty for a Saito, although I have heard of people using 30% heli fuel.

You've been told a few times that it's a 3mm. I doubt you will get much more response?

Here's where you buy them

I'd like to get something straightened out here . . . .

Cool Power fuel does have low high and multi viscosity variations.

The Omega four stroke is the one with the 50/50 blend of synthetic-castor. Good luck finding a good price on it though.

Here is the link for the Omega fuel. Go down to the bottom to see the four stroke blends

I just use regular Omega 10-15% and get along well. Four stroke Omega is probably better but I've never seen any at the hobby shops I go to.

So is Cool power still ok to use, or should I be using a little castor? I just bought another case of CP 15%, and I have two gallons through already.

Go ahead and use the Cool power. If you like, you can add some castor. About 2 oz/gal will be about right.

You can get the castor at the discount store or you can use Sig castor, Omega oil, or Klotz Benoil from the hobby shop

The only Omega fuel that is 50/50 Syn/Castor is their "specialty" 4-stroke. Most others are 70%/30% syn/castor. Just thought I'd clarify that, since most shops I've ever seen simply stock the standard aeroblend. Other specialty blends are a different ratio...

RVM,

Sorry about not clearly making that distinction about the regular Omega versus the 4 stroke Omega.

Thats the same one i just bought because i thougt it had castor in it. I just called up morgan fuels and they said YES it does have castor in it, 50/50. If it has the 4 cycle sticker on it like yours it does have castor, if it doesnt have the sticker its pure synthetic.

I have a new Saito 220 and I'm interested in finding a good 3D airframe for this engine. Who has experience with this engine and what airplane would be a good match? I was disapointed to find that slimline does not make a pitts muffler for the 220 and does not have any intention of producing one. What the H@)) are they thinking? So has anyone found a suitable muffler as well?

Pitts type mufflers are not popular on four strokes.

Yes i told them that. It seems to me like they put it under omega and not cool power? Have you ever seen 4cycle sticker on omega?

Well thanks for doing a little investigating on that. Like all things on the web... especially coporate websites... they aren't always updated with the proper information.
i feel a little better about the fuel i have been using now. you guys had me a little worried!

Hey guys,

A while back, I saw a sneak peak at a large Saito 4 stroke gasoline engine.

Is there any word on this? A release date and price maybe?

Hi all [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]...I got me a new 4cycle FA- 125a. It’s a little over kill for my twist 60. I’m looking for a velocity stack to keep the fuel in and a place put an air filter. To keep the dirt and grass out of the motor However just an air filter would make me happy

You will need a O-ring from the hardware store to seal between the intake stack and the carburetor

Use a Bruline filter.

To my knowledge there has been no further mention of the Saito 220 Gasoline engine by Saito.

Apparently H9 doesn't plane to offer it?

i put a velocity stack on my 1.00. i tried several auto parts stores, looking for viton o rings in metric sizes. advanced auto parts had them. 8mm i.d., 12mm o.d., 2mm thick. it fits snug between the two pcs. make sure it stays centered as you squeeze it into place. lube w/a little oil (dextron for engine ARO). what 3D prop is going to fit on that a/c w/that engine? i have a .40 twist, os 46ax 12x4 (doesn't hover), would like to go w/a .72 saito, 14x4 is too big for the landing gear.
